House Interior Remodel
In collaboration with the interior designer, the interior color scheme was changed throughout the whole house. The ceilings were accented, the archways were squared off and all the floors received modern tiling.
The entire ceiling in the family-kitchen-dining and sitting area was completely refinished which allowed the installation of new energy-efficient LED lighting and prevented any kind of exposed ceiling patching. In addition, soffits and other walls were removed in the kitchen area.
By closing the niche above the fireplace and replacing the fireplace wall with a linear layout this Mediterranean home was upgraded into an appealing contemporary home. The color concept was executed on the Slade wall around the fireplace and the recessed ceiling.
An open floorplan was created by removing the soffits, columns, archways, and the wall from the kitchen to the hallway. Opening up the sitting area gives the home a spacious feeling. Other nice features are the dry bar with a wine cooler and waterfall edge.
By removing the hallway we expanded the kitchen. The reconfigured cooktop niche and added new range hood made it to a chef's delight. The large kitchen island with cabinetry beneath for a lot of storage space includes three seating areas. The big farm sink is accented with a waterfall edge.
The open dining area was created by eliminating the soffits above the dining room along with the columns at the entryway; The design created an open flow from the kitchen to the dining room.
A focal point is the reconfigured stairwell system. The wooden steps bring a warm tone to this area.
Removing the glass block wall opened up this bathroom.
The modern tiles and the free-standing bathtub converted it to a spa-like environment. The new floating double vanity with mirrors completes this room.
The new impact sliding glass doors, exterior swing doors, and windows adding hurricane protection. Because the track for the new sliding glass doors was much wider it was necessary to build out the surrounding area. This kept the appearance of the lanai basically the same.
Previously the four-car garage had a one-car/three-car garage door. In changing it to two double doors created better usable garage space.
